General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR)
Many members will be aware that new rules about personal data came into force on 28 May 2018.
The Society has to keep some details about you for membership purposes. This is generally restricted to your name, address, date of birth and membership card number. In some cases we may have your e-mail address and / or telephone number(s) as well if you have provided this information.
The details we hold about you are never passed on to outside organisations. It is held by the Membership Secretary via your completed membership application forms, and the General Secretary on a computer with virus and firewall protection. The length of time we hold your details can vary depending on your length of membership. Also we do not automatically delete details of people who do not renew membership as we sometimes send further invitations to re-join.
If you have any queries about our policy please contact Paul Whitfield, General Secretary via the Society’s web-site.
